What to expect before we start.
What should I ask when I reach out?
Most people start with "we're looking at a renovation or a custom home, can you give us an estimate?" That's a fair starting point, but the more helpful question is: "We have a budget of $150,000 and want to do the following. Is that realistic?" Leading with your budget helps us tell you honestly, right away, whether your vision and your number are aligned, or where they need to flex.
How do I know if I'm a good fit for CGC?
You'll usually know within the first conversation. Clients who are the best fit typically come recommended by someone we've already worked with, have plans drawn (or know they need them), expect to be out of the home during the project, have a budget in mind, and are looking to start within about six months.
Can I use my own subcontractors?
No, and here's why. A subcontractor on your project answers to whoever hired them. If that's you directly, we have no way to hold them accountable to the schedule, the scope, or the quality standard we run every job on. We manage every trade on-site so the whole project stays coordinated under one standard.
Can your crew handle small repairs while they're already at my house?
We can, but we're not a handyman service. Our crews are focused on the contracted scope. The moment they start taking on side requests, your actual project slows down. That protects your timeline as much as ours.
Will your crew help with things like letting the dog out, grabbing packages, or pausing for a call?
Our crews are there to build. They're not able to manage your home, your pets, your deliveries, or your schedule while they're on-site. That's not a knock on you, it just keeps the job moving at the pace you're paying for.
Do you manage the whole project, or just parts of it?
The whole thing, start to finish. We're turnkey: surveys, engineering, permitting, every sub, every material order. You have one point of accountability instead of juggling five.
Why do you buy all the materials instead of letting me source them?
Vendor relationships, manufacturer warranties, and accountability all depend on us being the ones purchasing. If something's wrong with a product, we're the ones who can get it made right.
Do you offer discounts or price match?
No. The project management fee is non-negotiable, and we don't price-match to win a job. Our pricing reflects what it actually takes to do the work right, not what a competitor is willing to cut to.
Will your crew take on extra work I ask for directly, on the side?
No. Any additional work needs to go through the contract, not a conversation on-site. It keeps pricing fair and the scope honest for everyone.
